Introduction
Middle Island is the location for the club’s fleet of coastal rowing boats. The waters and climate of Hong Kong are ideal for this type of water sport. The club organizes regular training sessions for coastal rowing and a number of ‘competitive’ and ‘social’ events.
Typical Events
For the latest information on events please refer to the events calendar. During the year we usually organize a number of social activities- lunches, moonlight rows, weekend trips etc.
Coastal rowing is not only a ‘social’ activity, but an extreme sport- the club hosts the Around the Island Race each year and the coastal rowers participate in this event. This is a 44km non-stop row around Hong Kong Island against the outrigger canoes and sailing boats. As a build up to this event the club’s coastal rowing squad participates in a number of races together with the outrigger canoeists.
With the growth of the sport within the club and in Hong Kong the number of events and activities is increasing and the club is looking to participate internationally as well.
