RHKYC Storytelling by Hong Kong Shifts

28 May 2024
F&B / EVENTS
Exhibition:  RHKYC Storytelling by Hong Kong Shifts

Regatta Room | Tuesday 28 May | 1200hrs to 2100hrs

This free pop-up exhibition features stories from passionate sailing and rowing (including paddle sports) members and loyal staff of Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, members of the RHKYC Charity Foundation Board and Hong Kong Kong's ‘ghost net hunter’ who has contributed greatly to ocean conservation.

RHKYC is an inclusive water sports club, where we welcome everyone with a passion for our sports to join our community. This is a place where we find keen sailors, rowers and paddlers and an amazing team of staff working tirelessly behind the scenes come together to make the RHKYC the thriving community that it is.

For over two years, RHKYC has worked with Hong Kong Shifts to interview these 25 fabulous people who kindly agreed to reveal their stories!

We hope you enjoy these stories and that they help to bring us closer together.

After the exhibition, you will soon find story panels displayed at the three Clubhouses on rotation plus the stories will be featured in the Ahoy! magazine, on the website and on our social media from time to time.

Please register your attendance to help us with our planning.

About Hong Kong Shifts

Hong Kong Shifts is a social enterprise using storytelling as a tool to connect, empower and mobilise. Hong Kong Shifts puts the spotlight on shift workers, individuals working tirelessly in the background to uplift our communities. Since 2019, Hong Kong Shifts has explored all corners of the city to source and share stories of over 200 shift workers — from street cleaners, security guards, sampan drivers, fishermen to bamboo scaffolders, seafarers, taxi drivers and many others. Hong Kong Shifts also partners with schools, NGOs, corporates and other organisations on storytelling initiatives to connect, mobilise and inspire - and, ultimately, to bring us closer together as one caring community.
