Ahoy! Issue

Ahoy! is the monthly magazine of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. A glossy full-colour magazine, it is distributed free to all RHKYC members and other prestigious clubs in Hong Kong, as well as over 170 reciprocal clubs worldwide. The magazine, which is published 11 times per year with a combined July/August issue, has a print run of over 3,500 copies. It covers Club events and members' activities, but also includes many international regattas in which Club members participate.

The Ahoy! magazine is saddle-stitched (stapled) and printed on Forest Stewardship Council® rated mixed pulp paper (meaning that the paper is made of responsibly sourced wood fiber) and all printing and finishes, including the cover, use varnish oil which is water soluble and non-VOC.

The Club and its Members

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is one of the oldest clubs in Hong Kong, and one of the largest yacht clubs in the world. In 1999 it celebrated its 150th year of sailing and rowing activity. Kellett Island in Causeway Bay is the Club's principal base, and acts as the parent site to the two smaller branches of the Club, at Shelter Cove near Sai Kung and Middle Island in Repulse Bay.
Members of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club are admitted through a selective balloting procedure and represent all walks of life, but all have an interest in either rowing or sailing. Current membership stands at 14,509 and of those 6,229 are active members with another 8,280 absent members worldwide. The ratio for male and female is 55% to 45%, and for local and expatriate active members is 66% to 34%.
