Race 3 of Double Handed Series will take place on 22 February. This will be a gentle introduction to the wonderful discipline of double handed sailing and is especially open to those who have never raced double handed before.
Race 4 of the 2024-2025 Coastal Series will take place on Saturday 1 March starting at 1100hrs. This Category 3 race is ideal practice for crew looking to enter the Eastern Asia Offshore Race. You can log this race experience as part of declaring your crew suitability for participation in offshore races.
This 565nm Category 1 Offshore Race is run under the auspices of RORC with the race taking competitors from Hong Kong, China to Subic Bay in the Philippines.
For RHKYC Category 1 Offshore Yacht Races at least 50% of a crew (including skipper) shall have undertaken Safety at Sea Survival training, Asia Pacific Yachting run these courses on behalf of the Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China.
ECT-HK will be running Refresher and Standard First Aid, CPR & AED courses at Kellett Island. National Safety Council (USA) First Aid, CPR & AED certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of a written assessment and are recognised internationally and will be accepted for the club's offshore races.
Targeting sailors and owners who know little in order to increase their level and gain confidence. The seminar will take place on Thursday 13 February at 1900hrs in the Annex Room, Kellett Island and on Zoom

The Marine Safety (Alcohol and Drugs) Ordinance came into effect on 1 January 2025.
According to the Ordinance, any person involved in operating a vessel, including those who control, navigate or pilot a vessel, or perform designated duties, i.e. relating to the safety and the security of the vessel and the protection of the marine environment on board a vessel that is under way, will commit an offence if the person is under the influence of alcohol or drugs to the extent of being incapable of having proper control of the vessel or performing designated duties properly, or has alcohol exceeding the prescribed limits in the person's body, or has any specified illicit drugs in the person's body. Upon conviction, the maximum penalty is a fine of $25,000 and imprisonment for three years as well as disqualification of relevant qualifications for life.
Please note the changes of service provided at Shelter Cove (ie the new sampan service between Shelter Cove and the Pak Sha Wan Public Pier Island sampan and the cessation of the sampan service between Shelter Cove and Hebe Haven Yacht Club).
Members are encouraged to use the western steps for boarding if they are hiring junks or motor boats.
