Protect Your Boat Against Theft

In order to protect your property, all members are advised by Marine Police to take the following precautions:

  1. Lock up the cabin and all hatches when your vessel is unattended
  2. Use sturdy and reliable door/window locks or padlocks
  3. Keep all keys in a safe place
  4. Do not keep excessive money or valuables onboard
  5. Lock all water-sport items (eg sailing dinghies, windsurfers, water-scooters) and petrol cans inside the cabin
  6. Mark valuable items and equipment with the vessel's name or license number
  7. Keep a photographic record of all removable valuable items
  8. Install wireless phone or transceiver onboard where possible for emergency communication purposes
  9. Consider installing an alarm system suitable for a pleasure vessel
