Assistant IT Manager

This position will report directly to the IT Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist to implement the new systems or existing systems enhancement requests
  • Assist to manage project throughout the entire lifecycle from requirement gathering, project plan, implementation to user acceptance
  • Assist to manage the IT projects and monitor the progress of all projects related activities to ensure that all defined project objectives are met
  • Assist to do research and test for new technologies
  • Responsible to write the SOP to IT Support Officers to follow up
  • Responsible for data and application systems support to end-users
  • Maintain IT documentation such as project management documents, user requirement specifications, technical specifications, interface specifications etc.
  • Manage, support and troubleshoot operation issues of in-house applications
  • Perform ad-hoc support tasks and special projects as assigned by IT Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in IT Project Role and/or System Analyst Role
  • Experience in Hotel/Club Application Systems supports will be an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills on working with both internal and external parties
  • Good command in written and spoken English
  • Good problem-solving skill and able to work independently
  • Team player with initiative and enthusiasm

Racing Development Manager

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is looking for a high calibre individual to fill the post of Racing Development Manager.

This is a full-time position based in Hong Kong. Reporting to the MI Sailing and Marine Manager, the successful applicant will facilitate the growth in club racing both in dinghies and club keelboat classes. The role involves building and developing the club’s follow-on programs for learn to sail graduates to help achieve the training centre’s primary objective of “building the base of the sport and providing more sailors and racers for the club”, ensuring best use of coaching resources to facilitate the optimal environment for developing a large racing development programme and high achieving sailors at RHKYC from beginner to advance racing levels. Besides, the role will initially have a complete overview of the Sharks Racing Team as well as supervising other coaches to manage the overall sailing programme on a day-to-day basis. Eventually, the role will be transited to manage a growing club racing development and keelboat programme. 

Duties and work hours of the position will vary depending on time of the year and priorities of the programme at any given time. The successful applicant may expect 50% of the time will be engaged in club racing development, 30% on coaching and 20% on youth racing team management and others.

This position will have a dual role split between rowing coaching and fleet management. Coaching will primarily take place at Middle Island, Deep Water Bay but also at other locations, like Shek Mun and Shelter Cove from time to time. The fleet management side will involve supporting the repair and maintenance of the Club’s fleet of rowing boats at multiple locations.

We look for people with:

  • Sailing race programme management experience
  • Relevant University degree from internationally recognised institution.
  • Proven record of high level of sailing and coaching achievement.
  • Internationally recognised coaching qualification.
  • Preferably with internationally recognised powerboat driving qualification
  • Hong Kong PVOCC (if already based in HK)
  • First Aid & CPR qualification.
  • Willing to work with members on most weekends with regular days off on weekdays.

Junior Racing Programme Coach

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is looking for a talented and dedicated sailor to fill the post of Junior Racing Programme Coach.

This is a full-time position based in Hong Kong. Reporting to the MI Sailing and Marine Manager, the successful applicant is responsible for inspiring our young club racing sailors (Shark Squad) to grow a lasting passion for the sport, participate in club racing and achieve high performance goals at local and international regattas.

The role involves:

  • Managing the Junior (ages 9-14) racing programme including Junior racing development programme (introduction level to club level racing) and the club Junior Performance team in range of boats including Optimists, RS teras and doublehanded dinghies.
  • Coach performance squad and organize coaching for other areas of the programme.
  • Support the club dinghy racing programme and assist with delivery of racing clinics for members.
  • Lead weekend coaching, school holiday coaching, and also take squads to overseas events.
  • Help with some instructing with our sail training team during the week and during school holidays.

We look for people with:

  • Junior competitor and coach experience at a high level.
  • Some international sailing and coaching experience.
  • Internationally recognised coaching/instructing qualification.
  • Preferably with Internationally recognised powerboat driving qualification
  • Hong Kong PVOCC (if already based in HK)
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Willing to work with members on most weekends with regular days off on weekdays.

Rowing Coach II

The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is looking for high calibre individual to fill the position of Rowing Coach II. This position will report directly to the Rowing and Paddle Sports Manager.

Job Summary:

This position will have a dual role split between rowing coaching and fleet management. Coaching will primarily take place at Middle Island, Deep Water Bay but also at other locations, like Shek Mun and Shelter Cove from time to time. The fleet management side will involve supporting the repair and maintenance of the Club’s fleet of rowing boats at multiple locations.

Coach Duties:

a.   Assist with the coaching of Adult Novice, Youth Development, Schools Rowing, Holiday camps and private lessons.
b.   Actively participate in any other coaching at all levels and in all programmes.
c.   To roster, manage and mentor junior and part-time Rowing Coaches. Provide direction, leadership and motivation to the team.
d.   Review the RHKYC Rowing safety policy quarterly with the coach team.
e.   Actively promote the best interests of RHKYC Rowing with external parties, members and participants through relationship management.
f.    Assist with planning and execution of RHKYC Rowing and Paddle Sports competitions.
g.   Assist during race days including boat preparation and mark laying.

Fleet Caretaking Duties: 

a.   Ensure rowing boats are rigged with correct spans and that oars are set to the correct collar lengths.
b.   Ensure all Club boats are in serviceable condition through regular inspection, maintenance, and repairs.
c.   Ensure that all spare parts and equipment are properly stored and inventoried. Keep the spare parts inventory log up to date and prepare parts orders when needed.
d.   Assist with the planning and execution of regular maintenance days with members.
e.   Regular communication with coach team and Rowing and Paddle Sports Manager to improve co-ordination of boat repairs and other requirements.
f.    Ensure Boat Sheds and slipway areas are kept clean and that boat storage racks are well maintained.
g.   Boat damage: report cases promptly to the R&PS Manager and help co-ordinate repair work.
h.   Storm preparation: in the event of storms, secure the boathouse and ensure boats that are stored outdoors are properly tied down.
i.    To perform such other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time by the Rowing & Paddle Sports Manager and Head of Rowing Operations.

Requirements:

  • Recognized rowing coaching qualification (at least HKCRA/ UKCC Level 1 or equivalent)
  • Over 5 years’ rowing experience at a high level (high school, university or club)
  • Over 3 years’ coaching experience (university, juniors and novices an advantage)
  • Willing to work on weekends, holidays and early mornings.
  • Fluent in written & spoken English. Spoken Chinese or Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Preferably with First Aid and HK Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2 Qualification.

Paddle Sports Coach

This position will report directly to the Head Paddle Sports Coach.

You will be responsible for coaching across the full range of paddle sports courses and programmes including youth, school, corporate and community groups for both dragon boat and outrigger canoe. In addition, you will be actively involved in day-to-day coaching of the Club’s dragon boat and outrigger canoe teams.

Besides you will work closely with the Rowing Office team to ensure safety policies are adhered to, course curriculums are kept current and data and material related to courses and programmes is updated. You will work with other coaches and the Rowing Office team to organise the repair and maintenance of the RHKYC Paddle Sports fleet.

You will also assist the Rowing Office and the Club as a whole in organising and running high-level paddling events in order to develop dragon boating and outrigger canoeing at the Club and within Hong Kong. 

Requirements:

  • Recognized paddle sports coaching qualification;
  • Over four years’ paddle sports experience at a competitive level;
  • Over two years’ coaching experience (ideally at club or team level);
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Spoken Chinese an advantage;
  • Experience with handling social media platforms an advantage;
  • Adept at Microsoft Office software suite including Powerpoint and Excel;
  • Current First Aider
  • Holder of HK Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2 qualification or equivalent would be an advantage.
