Boatyard Services

Boatyard Enquiry

The boatyard of the RHKYC has an enviable reputation as the best place in town to get your yachts’ bottom antifouled.

Without giving away all our trade secrets we are well equipped for antifoul work and offer special antifouling packages to our members for a competitive and first-rate job.

Whilst we mainly use and recommend International paint products, we can also offer alternatives that are ‘burnishable’ to produce that racing finish

We also offer a top class gel coat polishing service to remove those years of dirt and oxidation…

Please refer to our standard charges for more details.

(Members may access this information by logging in to the Members' Area (download forms/boatyard).

The Club’s 45 T rough terrain hydraulic crane is capable of stepping masts up to 90’ feet tube length.

We have recently carried out measurement weighing for IRC rating certificates – approximate maximum lift 8000Kgs.

We can hire a larger crane at reasonable rates for overweight or over length jobs.

Please refer to our standard charges for more details.

Our machine shop includes a lathe, pillar drill, aluminium and stainless welding and fabrication, plus a wide assortment of specialist tools.

We employ 3 full-time engineers and can handle a wide range of engine servicing/fabrication and repair works.

We also can provide subcontract services for hydraulics, electrical installations, generator and engine installations, diesel repairs and much more.

From fixing a small ding in the gel coat to rebuilding the transom of your yacht, our GRP shop can handle a wide range of tasks to a high level of finish.

We carry a wide range of glass cloths (including Carbon and Kevlar) and have the facilities to make major or minor repairs.

We are adept at completing large scale bottom contact repairs – supervised by the members’ surveyor.

We can chock up to 14 boats (dependant on size) at any one time using our 50 Tonne WISE Hoist.

Members are welcome to work on their own boats whilst on the hardstanding, and we can provide compressed air, power and water on request. Access to the workshops is through prior approval, so please check with the management before using the facilities.

Please note that personal helpers/boat boys/boat girls WILL NOT be permitted to work on the premises without evidence of personal injury insurance.

We also offer a race washing service using a high-pressure hose. Please refer to our standard charges for more details.

The yard is well equipped to commission new boats. From the collection at the container terminal to fitting the keel, antifouling, dressing and stepping the mast, engine commissioning, installation of optional equipment and sea trials the boatyard can certainly be of service.

By the same token, we can also pack boats up and prepare them for export. We have plenty of experience in the design and fabrication of steel shipping cradles, so if you are leaving Hong Kong, but want to take your boat with you, call the yard for a quotation.

Our painting team can transform your old tired topsides into a gleaming thing of beauty again –

We have access to specialist painting contractors who can produce spectacular results on larger projects.

We can offer a complete rigging service for yachts of up to 80 feet. Our on-site equipment includes hydraulic roller swaging from 3-16mm diameter wire, rod cold heading and Nicropress swaging.

Our subcontract riggers can produce all forms of splicing in both hi-tech (core to core) and traditional (cover to core, wire to rope and multistrand) splicing. We are also on hand to assist with mast tuning and deck layout works as required.

Our woodwork shop is equipped with a bench saw, planer, thicknesser, band saw and many more traditional woodworking tools.

We have access to specialist subcontractors that can take on the most challenging projects.

In a field that is as complex as that of modern yacht construction and maintenance, it is virtually impossible to cover all the required skills in house. Currently, we have a very close relationship with highly skilled sub-contractors in the following fields:

  • Air-conditioning
  • Refrigeration
  • Marine Electronics
  • Specialist stainless steel fabrication
  • Canvas/awning works
