Jock Wishart returns to Hong Kong after many years and will be making an appearance at the Club!

His first involvement with Hong Kong goes back to 1982 when he sailed with Irvine Laidlaw and Tom Larmour on one of the first of Irvine's Highland Flings in the Sardinia Cup, where they were second boat overall.

In the late 1980s Jock formed the Kingston Royals Dragon Boat team in the UK and became the first of the non-Far East crews to start winnng in the Far East. Wins included Penang, Singapore, Macau and the Kings Cup in Taiwan where they beat their National Crew:- Our best in Hongkong was 3rd and 4th.

In 1991 Jock was Head of PR for the Rugby World Cup and in 1998 he skippered the World Record beater, foil stabilised monohull powerboat Cable and Wireless Adventurer and visited Hong Kong as part of the record breaking trip.

Much of his life can be seen on

Last year he captained the Celtic team in winning the Commodores Cup in the Solent.

At the speaker's corner, Jock will present his "Row to the North Pole in 2011" but no doubt at the Q&A you can also find out about his sailing and rugby experiences!
