CHEF MATT MANNING
___________________________________________________________________________

Born in England, Chef Matt Manning perfected his trade in London’s finest Michelin-starred restaurants under the tutelage of some of the best in the business, including Gordon Ramsay, Marcus Wareing, Alyn Williams and Bryn Williams.

Upon relocating to Cape Town, South Africa, Matt worked as Sous Chef at La Colombe, before venturing out on his own as a private chef.

At the end of 2018, Matt embarked on a new adventure and opened his first restaurant 'Grub & Vine', a relaxed yet refined bistro.

He later expanded his offering to include Culture Wine Bar. The bar opened its doors in October 2020 in the midst of the pandemic; a bold move that fortunately paid off. Today, Culture is renowned for having one of SA’s largest and best-regarded local & international wine lists, and is set to open its second establishment at the new TimeOut Market at the V&A Waterfront towards the end of 2023.

Matt is also the owner of the Blue Room, a jazz and cocktail lounge, as well as the Chef’s Studio, an interactive cooking events space.

All four of Matt’s businesses are housed under one roof at 103 Bree Street; smack bang in the heart of the Mother City.

ALEX DALE

Alex Dale began his winemaking career earlier than most when he worked harvest for the first time in Burgundy at the age of 15. In his late teens, he moved from his native England to Burgundy full time to further immersed himself in the culture of wine. After over a decade in the region and ready for a change, Alex moved to South Africa, just three months after Nelson Mandela became president.
He produced the first vintage under the Radford Dale label in 1998, along with Ben Radford. Since that time, Radford Dale has been made in very limited quantities and to exacting standards. They have become leaders in chemical-free farming as founding members of PIWOSA (Premium Independent Wines of South Africa), which sets ethical, environmental, and social-uplift standards. The wines are produced with minimal intervention, combining the greatest attributes of time-tested, traditional methods with responsible viticulture and instinctive winemaking. Romantic and restrained. Classic and contemporary.
