The Commodore then introduced Mr Jimmy Farquhar to the meeting. He advised that Mr Farquhar has had many active roles, not just in this Club but also in other yacht clubs around the Far East, in addition to being an accomplished sailor himself in his Etchells and several different cruisers. Whether as our Sailing Secretary from 1999 to 2001, or as Race Officer, or Protest Chairman in many local and international events, or as a member of race organizing committees, or writing our sailing instructions, Mr Farquhar has been a tower of strength and unfailing source of wisdom and experience to ail those involved in race organization for many years.
Mr. John Leigh then presented the prize to Mr Jimmy Farquhar for his outstanding contribution to the Club's sailing activities.
The Commodore advised that Mr Booth has been a stalwart of the Rowing Section since he joined the Club, within one month of arriving in Hong Kong in 1979, in order to represent the Club in the Far East Amateur Rowing Association Regatta in Singapore. Ever since then, he has been a core member of the Club's rowing crews in regattas locally, regionally and throughout the world. More recently, Mr Booth has organized and taken part in the Club's Masters crews who have achieved great success in many international regattas. Apart from serving on the Rowing Committee on and off for most of his time in the Club, including as Rowing Captain from 1985 to 1987 and Rowing Secretary from 1988 to 1989, Mr Booth has been a leading light in the Far East Amateur Rowing Association and has found time to coach the Club's novices as well as experienced rowers, in addition to participating in charitable events, such as the Pedal Kart Race, Dragon Boat Races and Sedan Chair Race.
Mr. John Leigh then presented the prize to Mr Geoff Booth for his outstanding contribution to the Club's Rowing Section.
