Noel Croucher is no doubt a name you will recognise if you know anything about the Club's history and indeed you may have performed race management duty on the boat named after him!
The British businessman and philanthropist, who played a significant role in the RHKYC's history, is often remembered for his contributions to the Club and the sailing community in Hong Kong. He was also the Commodore of the RHKYC and was involved in various initiatives to promote sailing and maritime activities around Hong Kong.
A speaker corner will be held on Wednesday 21 May, conducted by Dr. Vaudine England, author of the book The Quest of Noel Croucher: Hong Kong’s Quiet Philanthropist, which details Mr. Croucher’s legendary life—from a young British man who came to Hong Kong with nothing to one of the richest tycoons actively engaged in Hong Kong business development and a respected philanthropist—yet his name is not widely known to the public. Dr. England will also share her story of tracking down his boat to a marina in Phuket. Be prepared for a night full of captivating stories and shared memories.
