Adult Sail Training

COVID-19 UPDATE (last update 1 Dec 2020)

We have been monitoring the changes to the government restrictions and social distancing measures. We are now able to provide the following update for our courses and thank you for your patience whilst we have been looking at the issue.

For courses with class dates between Wednesday December 2nd and Tuesday December 8th:

All courses excluding Keelboat and Powerboat will continue as scheduled.  We will also be taking the additional measures:

On shore:
No more than 2-persons will be permitted to be within 1.5 meters of each other on shore and in classrooms. We will be marking out hardstand to help make this process easier. Our instructor team will also be briefing students in smaller groups instead of all at once to assist with adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Our instructing team will also prepare boats as much as possible prior to courses to minimize time on shore.

Masks will continue to be required to be worn at all times with the exception of eating and showering only. We recommend that students bring an extra mask with them.

Some courses will have lunches in a takeaway box allowing the class to spend more time on the water or to eat away from the restaurant which will be at maximum capacity with 2-person tables and 1.5m separation.

On water:
The government has previously indicated that sports teams are able to train as normal regardless of the gathering requirements, to the best of our knowledge, this has not been changed and still applies to Sail Training. We will endeavor to keep dinghy sailing restricted to 2-persons per dinghy where possible.  Due to the updated social distancing regulations and clarifications in regards to gathering limits on vessels, we will have to cancel the Powerboat Level 2 and Keelboat courses.

Masks may be worn when sailing dinghies but this will be the personal choice of the sailors.

For courses with class dates Wednesday December 9th and beyond:
We anticipate there may be further changes to social distancing and gathering restrictions. We will provide a further update regarding the status of courses on Tuesday each week.
