Volvo Ocean Race

VOLVO OCEAN RACE  HONG KONG FESTIVAL 2018
17 TO 31 JANUARY

This exciting international, extreme ocean yacht race is coming to your shores in January 2018. Yachtsmen and women from around the world, their families, tourists and locals, will all visit Kai Tak during the Stopover in your city. The Volvo Ocean Race will bring various activations, displays and MORE to attract visitors; Mayo & Calder will have restaurants, entertainment and other events for the duration of the Stopover for schools, professionals, adults and kids alike - and most of it will be for FREE! In order for all of this to happen, we will need VOLUNTEERS!

Volunteers are an integral and vital part of any event and this one is no exception! Volunteers are an essential crew member of this Race, hence they will be called the ‘Port Crew’. Port Crew Volunteers will be needed for the 15-day Stopover to cover 2 shifts per day in order to guide the public and facilitate the activations, schools program, entertainment areas, media, Sail Team zones, operations team and more. Whether you can give weekends, hours after or before work, or you can take some time off work to help out - we would love to have you. The volunteer roles will suit students, men, women and retirees. All that I ask is that you be over 16 years of age and physically able.

Port Crew volunteers will be remunerated with a top-of-the-line Musto uniform which can be kept. The incentive being the more days you can volunteer - the more uniform bits will be received to keep. For example, 2 days will receive a T-shirt and a cap; 4 days will receive 2 T-shirts, a cap and a jacket. Anyone giving over 6 days will receive a fleece sweatshirt as well. We will also provide a meal and refreshments during the volunteer shift also free of charge. PLUS you get to be part of this wonderful history-making event in your City for free, make new friends and gain new experiences.

If this sounds like something for you, please contact me at Ruth Tuiraviravi  ruth@mayoandcalder.com for more information or to register as a Port Crew Volunteer.

To volunteer for on water jobsplease fill in the RHKYC volunteer form.
