The Commodore advised that the General Committee unanimously agreed that the award should go to Mr Manson Ma for his commitment to the Club. Mr Ma fell in love with sailing in 2009 and has been an active sailor since then. He became an RHKYC Member in 2014 and became the co-owner of Impala, Pied Piper, in 2015. With the joint effort of his extremely supportive boat-partner, Mr Ma uses the boat as a platform to promote sailing and seamanship - in particular to his younger peers. Mr Ma was convinced that sailing, as a sport, was an ideal means of helping young people to develop – from engendering a sense of team spirit to establishing self-esteem, independence and resilience. By achieving RYA Dinghy and Keelboat Instructor qualifications in 2017 and 2018 respectively, Mr Ma wishes to adopt a more systematic and organised way to train up younger / teenage sailors as well as to promote the sport. Mr Ma also served on the Kellett Island Sub-Committee from 2016-2018 and has been serving on the China Sailing Sub-Committee since 2018. The award was then presented to Mr Manson Ma.
