The Commodore advised that the General Committee unanimously agreed that the award should go to Mr Gordon Liu for his commitment to the Club. Mr Liu joined the Club as a Junior Member in 2013 and is an accomplished sailor who is known to many. He has consistently participated, contributed, and volunteered in driving engagement and giving back to the Club and its events. Amongst many others, Gordon has been active in many major sailing events and offshore races. He has participated in the Around the Island Race, Typhoon Series, Port Shelter Regatta, Autumn Regatta, ABC Opening Regatta, China Coast Regatta and the China Cup since 2013. He sailed in the Rolex China Sea Race earlier in the year and was the youngest skipper ever in that offshore race. Apart from sailing, Mr Liu also gave his time and worked closely with our Sailing Office on the logistic arrangements for the 29er Worlds through launching and recovering boats at the Hong Kong Sea School. He has also been involved in the Shelter Cove Charity Sailing Events since 2016 and has worked closely with the Shelter Cove Sub-Committee whenever a charity event has been organised. Mr Liu was also a founding committee member of the Sailing Club in the Chinese University of Hong Kong working continuously since 2013 to introduce and promote sailing to university students and young people, and helping new sailors to progress all the way to offshore sailing. The award was then presented to Mr Liu.
