ST. JAMES'S PLACE SUNSET SERIES

22 August 

The last race of this year's St. James's Place Sunset Series will be held this Friday 22 August.

COASTAL RACE SERIES 2025-2026


Race 1 of the 2025-2026 Coastal Series will take place on Saturday 6 September starting at 1100hrs.  This Category 3 race is ideal practice for crew looking to enter the Vietnam Race 2025 or Rolex China Sea Race 2026.  You can log this race experience as part of declaring your crew suitability for participation in offshore races.

BMW AUTUMN REGATTA

13 to 14 September 

A two-day regatta run from Kellett Island marks the opening of the racing season. With approximately 90 class boats and big boats taking to the water, Victoria Harbour will become a kaleidoscope of colourful spinnakers and yachts.

Saturday 13 September 1100hrs to 1400hrs and 1630hrs to 1830hrs 
Sunday 14 September 0930hrs to 1230hrs and 1530hrs to 1800hrs

The Autumn Regatta is one of the Club's premier regattas and due to the large number of sailors taking part, the Club’s sampans will not provide any pick up or drop off service between the Jardine Steps and the Kellett Island pontoon and moorings, during the above times. All sampans will be used to take members from the Kellett Island slipway to their boats. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

OFFSHORE

 
 
 

HONG KONG TO VIETNAM RACE-  STARTS 28 & 29 OCTOBER

2025 will mark the 11th edition of this biennial race which is the longest Category 1 offshore race in Asia! The race was first run in 1996 and then regularly since 2004. The Hong Kong to Vietnam Race 2025 is a qualifying race for the 2025 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and is run under the auspices of RORC.

ROLEX CHINA SEA RACE - STARTS 4 MARCH 2026

This 565nm Category 1 Offshore Race is run under the auspices of RORC with the race taking competitors from Hong Kong, China to Subic Bay in the Philippines.

WORLD SAILING SAFETY AT SEA SURVIVAL COURSES

Please note the below courses will be the   only   courses held before the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race and Rolex China Sea Race due to pool closure.

Full course: 4 to 5 October 2025
Refresher course: 19 October 2025

For RHKYC Category 1 Offshore Yacht Races at least 50% of a crew (including skipper) shall have undertaken Safety at Sea Survival training, Asia Pacific Yachting run these courses on behalf of the Sailing Federation of Hong Kong, China. 

Refresher course eligibility: This course is only open to those who hold a World Sailing (ISAF) certificate not more than 2 years past the expiry date on the first day of the course and issued in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong or by the RYA.  (see World Sailing, Offshore Special Regulations 6.01.5).
If older than 2 years you must complete a 2 day course.

FIRST AID, CPR & AED COURSES

11 September

ECT-HK will be running a Refresher and Standard First Aid, CPR & AED course at Kellett Island. National Safety Council (USA) First Aid, CPR & AED certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of a written assessment and are recognised internationally and will be accepted for the club's offshore races.

TEAM RACING SEMINAR

Wednesday 27 August 1900hrs 

A team racing seminar will be conducted by RHKYC team racing specialists Mark Parker and Emily Randall, covering the competition process, rules, starting sequence and key moves. 

Content is targeted at crews competing in the Champions of Champions Regatta, however the seminar is open to all Class members interested to learn more about Team Racing.

YOUTH WEENEND COURSES


Youth Weekend Courses (September–December) will open for enrollment on the following dates:

Members:   8 August at 1700hrs
Non-members: 22 August at 1700hrs

Due to increasing demand for Saturday sessions, we will accommodate 16 sailors per session.

Please be reminded that for members enrollments, a valid membership number must be provided at the time of enrollment, or the enrollment will be cancelled. Only members and their immediate family are eligible to enroll under member status.

Weekend courses are designed for sailors who have already completed the Beginner Course.

ADULT SAIL TRAINING

 This term, we are offering a combined Adult Beginner Level 1 and Level 2 course, designed for sailors seeking a more intensive path to complete the HKSF Adult Dinghy syllabus. We have also opened the HKSF Level 3 course, available to adults and youths aged 16 and above. Standard HKSF entry requirements apply: participants must hold all lower-level HKSF certificates and have completed at least one season of sailing since obtaining their Level 2 certificate. For full course details, please refer to the HKSF Dinghy syllabus and logbook.

RHKYC Big Boat Owners

Thursday 4 September 2025

An informal opportunity for RHKYC Big Boat owners and skippers to meet with some of the members of the Yacht Racing SubCommittee to exchange views and aspirations.  Committee members will be present at the Main Lawn, Kellett Island, 4 September from 1830hrs to 2000hrs.

 

MARINE FEES

Please note that at their meeting on 26 June 2025, the General Committee approved that Marine Fees be increased by 8.5% with effect from 1 August 2025.


CLUB MOORING

The Marine Office has a Club mooring available for use by a members boat up to 14.63 metres in length, in Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter close to the outer breakwater. As there are no members on the waiting list for this mooring please contact Joanne at   marine@rhkyc.org.hk  if you are interested renting the mooring.
