This position is a senior management role with direct report to the General Manager and is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of food and beverage, housekeeping and technical service and the health, safety and sustainability aspects for three clubhouses located at Kellett Island, Middle Island and Shelter Cove.
Directly supervises the Food and Beverage Manager, Executive Chef, Banquet Sales Manager, F&B Outlet Managers, House Manager, Facilities and Technical Manager and the Manager – Health, Safety and Sustainability. Plan and implement budgets, hire, train and supervise subordinates and apply relevant marketing principles to assure that the needs of club members and their guests are consistently exceeded.
To be actively involved in the planning of and the opening of new or to be renovated F&B projects or Clubhouse facilities when they arise at all three clubhouses.
We are looking for an experienced professional with:
• A proven track record of achievement in the Club or Hospitality Industry.
• Strong leadership and management skills with an ability to drive revenue and manage teams.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cost-control skills.
• Extensive knowledge of Food & Beverage Operations, the associated legislation and compliance requirements.
• A proven track record of innovative and successful, large and small scale, events and promotions.
• A positive approach to team building, promoting effective communication and be capable of instilling a strong, collaborative work ethic among all departments.
• Ability to plan and implement improved workplace practices and procedures.
• A good communicator, both written and spoken.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office software.
Position Summary
The Marketing & Events Manager will blend creativity, strategic marketing expertise, and strong project management skills to promote Rowing & Paddle Sports at RHKYC and deliver exceptional events. Their work will enhance the visibility of these sports and engage key target audiences. The Marketing & Events Manager will work closely with RHKYC staff and stakeholders to achieve the section’s broader objectives.
Primary Duties
Marketing
• Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase awareness and participation of Rowing & Paddle Sports.
• Create engaging content for digital platforms, Ahoy! magazine, the sections bi-weekly newsletter, and other promotional materials.
• Ensure Rowing & Paddle Sports are fully integrated into the club’s broader Marketing and Communications strategy.
Events
• Plan, organize, and execute events including regattas, races, community engagement, and sponsor activities.
• Coordinate logistics, budgets, timelines, event orders, and vendors.
• Ensure events deliver exceptional participant and spectator experiences.
Secondary Duties
Marketing
• Manage social media channels and ensure consistent brand messaging.
• Responsible for design and production of all race day banners, backdrop, signage, and other collateral.
• Monitor marketing performance metrics and adjust strategies for continuous improvement.
Events
• Collaborate with other RHKYC staff, departments, sponsors, and partners to maximise reach and impact.
• Build relationships with local communities, schools, and organizations to promote participation.
• Manage event day partners such as NGOs, Sponsors, VIPs, and MCs.
Administration & Reporting
• Prepare reports on marketing campaigns and event performance.
• Manage budgets and ensure cost-effective delivery of initiatives.
• Attend working group and sub committee meetings.
We look for people with
• Good spoken and written English, Cantonese, and preferably Mandarin.
• 5yrs+ event management experience.
• Strong social media skills (Instagram, Facebook, Red Note).
• Experience with Canva, Adobe illustrator or similar.
• MS Office skills including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.
