Bodegas Roda was founded in 1987 by entrepreneurs and wine lovers, Mario Rotllan and Carmen Daurella. The name of the winery combines the first letters of their surnames. The pair dared to establish themselves at the legendary Haro's Barrio de la Estación; side by side with some of the most ancient and celebrated Rioja wineries.

The bodegas has rapidly gained renown for its meticulous and exacting research into Tempranillo, one of Spain's oldest indigenous grape varieties. In 1992, Bodegas Roda had their first commercial vintage. Using the most modern of technology, Roda have perfected the art of Tempranillo, identifying 552 individual clones, from which only 20 have been selected for propagation, chosen for the quality they deliver in specific vineyard plots which located in the best ecosystems of La Rioja Alta.

In 2013, the winery celebrated its 25th anniversary with a roadshow of vertical tastings around the world - its purpose has always been to make reds suitable for cellaring. No expense has been spared at Bodegas Roda in trying to produce the finest wines in this famous region, huge investment in both vineyard and winery coupled with incredibly high standards produce a modern and attracting wine which has critics cooing.
