10 July 1890, five families joined together to share their passion for
wine and founded ‘Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta’ in the Haro
Station district of Rioja Alta. La Rioja Alta represents the essence of
vine-growing culture; its vines are tenderly cared for on a 473-hectare
estate, 360 of which are vineyards planted on limestone soil in the best parts of Rioja Alta. Tempranillo dominates their vineyards, but in the past few years they have planted Graciano, Garnacha and Mazuelo which Graciano adds a special personality to their wines, and Garnacha makes Viña Ardanza always attractive and elegant.
