Mechanical failure is the main cause of rescue call-outs to pleasure vessels.  Most engine problems can be avoided by taking simple precautions and you don’t need detailed mechanical knowledge to make repairs.  This course is designed to teach vessel owners and users (both power and sail) the basics of how to maintain and repair their engine.

This one day course it taught by a qualified RYA instructor and teaches you:

Theory: How diesel engine works, parts of the engine.
Systems: Fuel, air, cooling, electrical, lubrication, transmission, engine controls.
Operation: Periodic checks, starting and stopping.
Maintenance: Diagnostics, troubleshooting, servicing, emergency procedures.

You will also have a chance to get hands on with a demonstration engine in the classroom.

Course A: 8 June 2019 (Saturday from 0850hrs to 1720hrs,Annex Meeting Room) FULL
Course B: 13 July 2019 (Saturday from 0850hrs to 1720hrs, Gun Room) FULL
Course C: 7 June 2019 (Friday from 0850hrs to 1720hrs, Gun Room)

Course Structure
Standard course is one full day of 7.5 hours.  Note that there is a mandatory pre-course registration at 0850hrs.
