Wednesday, 18 September (1900hrs - 2030hrs) Gun Room

The Council for Sustainable Development (SDC) is undertaking a Public Engagement on a Long-Term Decarbonisation Strategy for Hong Kong to combat climate change.  One of the results of global warming is the increasing frequency of severe storms such as Super Typhoons Hato and Mangkhut which caused severe damage to the Club’s facilities, particularly at Middle Island.

The Club has accepted an invitation to become a Supporting Organisation for the Public Engagement process and to disseminate information to our members.  Members are encouraged to provide views and comments on suggested strategies and policies which may help Hong Kong meet its obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement.  The consultation document is at and includes a response document for individuals and organizations to complete.  Deadline for submission of views is on 20 September.  Please also visit SDC’s dedicated website at for updated information on the public engagement activities.

On Wednesday 18 September, representatives of Hong Kong University and the Council will present a Workshop at the Club at 1900hrs, to assist in explaining the underlying issues.  In order to help us in our planning, please let us know you are coming using the Register Now button above.
