We are pleased to present a speaker's corner hosted by Claude Wong on 23 August in the China Sea and Tomes Rooms regarding his wonderful journey to West Sumatra!
YAAHOWU – greetings in Nias, one of the many islands we visited during the West Sumatra Rally, Indonesia. The rally has been an epic journey for me, being one of the 3 crews on “Always Saturday” under our skipper Rex.
We travelled over 3,000nm from Hong Kong across the South China Sea, passed the Strait of Malacca, visited islands along the coast of Western Sumatra in the Indian Ocean, through the Sunda Strait and witnessed Krakatoa’s eruption, enjoyed the natural beauty at Belitung and Thousand Islands before finally stopping at Jakarta. It is trip like this that inspires me in taking up sailing and joining our Club! I will be sharing the highlights of the journey:- the boat, the crews, the preparation, the highs, the lows, the meals and of course the danger encountered ……!
Limited seats available and registration is required in advance.
