Cool
new Yellowbrick feature! Specially for us, Yellowbrick has
set up an additional page which shows the estimated arrival
and estimated corrected time for each boat, based on their
tracking data so far. Click here to take a look http://live.adventuretracking.com/Leaderboard/hksf2011

San
Fernando Race - Fleet Progress
The
0800hrs radio sched has been used to extrapolate estimated
finish times and corrected times for the race. Very
misleading, as, of course, the figures are based on what has
happened over the past 24 hours, not what may (or may not)
happen over the next 24 hours.
Conditions
definitely seem to be lighter, with FreeFire's boat speed
dropping to 9kts at the latest track, but she's holding off
the fleet on corrected time so far, with Moonblue 2 putting
in an excellent night's work to lie second IRC overall, and
first in Premier Cruising, at this morning's sched.
Red
Kite II is putting in a brave effort as the smallest boat in
IRC Racing, however Strewth seems to have made up ground
since 0800hrs this morning, and the current leaderboard
shows them (potentially) IRC third overall.
Redeye
is still sticking close to the rhum line, and maintains her
on-the-water lead of IRC Cruising, however based on the
radio sched, Dearg Doom and Kei Lun (both very far south of
the rhum line) had the edge on her once ratings were
applied.

San
Fernando
Race 2011 gets underway
Organised
by Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and run under the auspices of
RORC, the 480nm Category 1 San Fernando Race started in Hong
Kong’s
Victoria
Harbour
today.
RHKYC
was delighted to welcome Hong Kong Director of Marine, Roger
Tupper, on board the committee boat to fire the 1220hrs
start gun in front of RHKYC’s Kellett Island Clubhouse,
sending the fleet on their way to
San Fernando
in the
Philippines
.
EFG
Mandrake
was quick off the line, making the most of her on-board
Harbour knowledge, however by Lei Yue Mun gap, the Mills 40
had been overhauled by TP52’s FreeFire
and Strewth from
the IRC racing division, and Moonblue
2 and Xena
from IRC Premier Cruising.
The
10 to 12 knot due easterly that had been recorded earlier in
the day by Race
Office
r Jimmy Farquhar, quickly built into a 20 knot breeze, and
an hour after the start, the fleet had cleared Lei Yue Mun
Gap, and was heading out into open water.
As
of 1800hrs this evening, FreeFire
was holding a narrow lead over Strewth,
with 60nm already covered. 30nm back Trilogy
HK was keeping guard at the back of the fleet. A rough
first night beckons, with a forecast of force 5 to 6, but
with visibility at 8km, it should be a spectacular night’s
sailing.
All
the competitors are fitted with a Yellowbrick tracking
device, and race fans can watch the action unfold online at
