19th International Flying Fifteen Worlds - Social Schedule

You'll need sustenance on the water! You can pre-order your sandwich by downloading the Excel order form HERE. This can be e-mailed back to us, or alternatively handed in at registration.

If you prefer to order day-by-day, orders must be submitted in advance to the Middle Island Bar, i.e. before 1000hrs on the day BEFORE you require your sandwich.

An eclectic combination of events, some official and some optional, have been put together to enhance your experience of Hong Kong. Dates, venues and descriptions are included below - please pre-book for guest tickets to official events, and for the number-restricted optional events, to avoid disappointment!

Every day after racing   On the hard standing after racing

Enjoy a catered snack after racing for the nine race days. Each day feast of the daily-featured meal as prepared by the Club’s kitchen: Kellett burger, Singapore noodles, pork sausage or lamb curry to name a few, all washed down with a beer.

 

Either HK$500 for the package (pre-ordered or bought at registration), or HK$75 per day. 

     
Sunday 27 October Briefing and welcome drinks for the Hong Kong Nationals

6.30pm Main Lawn, Middle Island

Hear the latest news on the upcoming racing on the main Lawn at Middle Island, home location for the World’s events. Enjoy one another’s company along with canapés and drinks afterwards.

 

Free to competitors, available as part of the competitor’s guest package.

     

Monday 28 October NATIONALS – Practice Race

Chinese Dinner

7.30pm American Restaurant, Wan Chai

Enjoy an evening out in Wan Chai featuring an authentic Chinese Dinner at the American Restaurant. The restaurant is an icon in Hong Kong and is named as such to lure the sailors in for a home cooked meal only to discover such wonderful delicacies as marinated jellyfish and black fungus. Savour these and other real Chinese dishes such as Beijing duck, spicy fried shrimp, minced pork and beans along with some fine drink.  After dinner enjoy the lively sights in the famous Wan Chai district of Hong Kong.

 

Approximately HK$200 to HK$300 per person (paid on the night)

     

Thursday 31 October NATIONALS - RACE DAY 3

Hong Kong Nationals Prize Giving

8pm Venue address to be provided

Enjoy an evening of food and drink at the magnificent home of HKFFA President, Sam Chan. The beautiful house is located overlooking the Harbour.  Remember this evening is also Halloween, so be sure to dress up or at least bring a hat or mask. Awards will be presented.

Friday 1 November
LAY DAY

Flying Fifteen World Championship – competitors briefing

7.00pm Main Lawn, Kellett Island

Delight to an authentic Lion Dance performance and afterwards listen to the official briefing on the upcoming World’s event. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Consider having a buffet dinner in the Bistro afterwards or enjoy a night in Wan Chai preparing for the racing the following morning.

Sunday 3 November WORLDS – RACE DAY 2

Seafood dinner on one of the outlying islands

5.30pm

 

After racing on November 3 return to Middle Island get cleaned up, relax a bit and then head by junk to Po Toi, a nearby outlying island, for a sumptuous authentic seafood dinner. The dinner will feature eight dishes including such items as locally caught steamed shrimp, salt and pepper fried squid, garlic flavoured scallops, and fried rice. And, quench your thirst with frosty beverage or hot tea. The junk will return us to Middle Island or Aberdeen for a quick taxi or bus ride home.

 

Approximately HK$200 to HK$300 per person (paid on the night).  This cost includes the junk trip.

     

Thursday 7 November

WORLDS – RACE DAY 6
Lan Kwai Fong pub crawl

7.30pm Stauntons, Staunton Street, SoHo.

Wander about Hong Kong with the local Flying Fifteen sailors through the various nightspots in Lan Kwai Fong and Wan Chai. Cost wise you are on your own. Estimate for the evening will run between HK$50 and your entire bank account, but the night is guaranteed to be more fun than you can stand. The evening starts at Stauntons on Staunton Street in SoHo.
     

Friday 8 November WORLDS – RESAIL DAY

Flying Fifteen Worlds

7.00pm Poolside, Kellett Island

Enjoy a poolside three-course dinner at Kellett Island facility and cheer for the event winners.

Free to competitors, available as part of the competitor’s guest package.

     

Other great eating from the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club – to be sampled at your own discretion

Every Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm

Curry night at the Bistro, Kellett Island, approximately HK$200 per person (paid on the night). We highly recommend that you put one of these Wednesday evening dinners on your agenda.  Curry night is a buffet of curries from around the world served with a mug of beer, glass of wine or soft drink. No booking required.

Weekend Buffet served from 12pm to 10pm - Bistro, Kellett Island

Come to the Bistro at Kellett Island and feast upon a complete buffet dinner for HKD185, tea, coffee or water included.  No booking required.

Every day 12am to 2.30pm - Compass Room, Kellett Island

Enjoy the weekend buffet in the Compass Room at Kellett Island, the RHKYC’s premier restaurant. HKD198 (Saturday)/ HKD225 (Sunday)
