Float Plus Mission Statement

To provide quality swimming instruction in a safe yet fun environment for children and adults of all abilities

In addition to being a great form of exercise and boosting self confidence, the ability to swim is a vital survival skill for young and old.

A good programme teaches much more that how to get across the pool, it teaches how to be safe in and around water, whether it is at the pool, on the beach or off a boat.

At FloatPlus we achieve this through:

• Qualified and experienced instructors
• Small class size
• Strong class organisation
• A clear consistent instruction style
• Logical and effective progression of swimming skills
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Safe environment due to class size and structure

FLOAT + are back for the 2013 season!

Saturday lessons start SATURDAY 4 MAY

Wednesday lessons start WEDNESDAY 8 MAY

Float Plus was formed in 2007 by Sandra Taylor, Karen Robertson and Robin Bredbury with the desire to provide to the children and adults in Hong Kong a comprehensive swimming programme taking advantage of their combined wealth of experience in swimming teaching and coaching. The company has grown with a strong reputation based on the solid principals of swimming as a sport for all and a necessary life-skill.

Programme Details

Through our comprehensive swimming program, we cater for all age groups and ability levels: babies to adults, beginners to advanced swimmers requiring technique work. We specialise in small class sizes, strong class organization, clear consistent instruction, and a logical progression of swimming skills. Best of all, we make it as fun and stress-free as possible in a comfortable and safe environment.

For babies and young children we incorporate play-based activities, games and songs to progress through a step-by-step, age-appropriate program working towards water safety, basic floating, breathing and water confidence. For older children, the program introduces and develops beginner, intermediate and advanced water skills up to stroke mechanics and competitive swimming skills.

• WATERBABIES (6-24 months)
This class offers a gentle introduction to basic water skills for babies and parents through fun and games with plenty of familiar songs and toys. Divided into age groups (6-12 months, 13-18 months, 19-24 months), member parents must accompany their child

• TADPOLES (2-4 years)
For non-swimmers or with little water-confidence, this class builds on basic water skills such as age-appropriate safety, body balance (front and back floating), propulsion (kicking and paddling) while having a lot of fun with toys and songs. Parents must accompany their child.

• GUPPIES 1 (3-5 years)
This class is similar to the Tadpoles as it caters for non-swimmers or with little water-confidence but without the parents in the pool. Builds on basic water skills such as age-appropriate safety, body balance (front and back floating), propulsion (kicking and paddling) while having a lot of fun with toys and songs

• GUPPIES 2 (3-5 years)
For those children who are confident in the water, but have no stroke technique i.e. able to go under, jump in without assistance and return to the side. This class introduces rolling to breathe, stroke work and further develops safety skills.

• PENGUINS (5 years and above)
For children able to swim 10 metres on front using any stroke and float on front or back with ease. Front crawl and backstroke are the focus strokes together with safe jumping and basic diving.

• SEALIONS (6 years and above)
For children able to swim 1 length (25 metres) on front using front crawl and float on front or back with ease. Main focus is on front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke also safe jumping, diving and advanced safety skills.

• DOLPHINS (7 years and above)
For children able to swim 2 lengths (50 metres) with competent front crawl with side breathing and backstroke. Ready to develop better technique, learn breaststroke, butterfly, competitive starts and turns.

• SHARKS (8 years and above)
This class is suitable for children able to swim 4 lengths (100 metres) using a competent front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke. This class focuses on strong technique for all strokes including butterfly and teaches competitive starts, turns and basic water-polo.

• SWIM SQUAD (9 years and above)
For advanced swimmers aged ready for a team style workout, while improving technique and competitive skills. All 4 strokes are developed as well as pace-work using a pool-side clock, fitness and life-saving.

In addition to the above classes, FloatPlus offers two in-house awards schemes that provide ongoing assessment for both children and parents. The CHALLENGE AWARD is based on the class categories and requires the student to demonstrate 8-10 category-appropriate skills relating to stroke technique rather than distance swimming.

The PASS AWARD (Pool and Safety Skills) series emphasises personal survival and pool safety. Students are required to swim with clothes and perform category-appropriate tasks such as treading water, survival swimming.

Look forward to seeing you all at the pool
Regards
