Ludde Ingvall’s supermaxi CHIVAS (built in December 2004) won Line Honours (as Audi ultra) in the previous edition of the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race in 2011.  That year, her elapsed time of 43h 44m 24s was less than one hour outside Skandia’s then-seven year old record, which, given the demands of the race, was a phenomenal performance by the slightly smaller maxi. The boat has won Line Honours in the 2004 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race (as Nicorette III) and the 2013 Fremantle to Bali Race.

Says Ludde, “We loved the race last time. It is a great event, well-organised and run. The downwind sailing to Vietnam is exhilarating and fast. The reception in Nha Thrang was warm. What is there not to like?!”

CHIVAS is 90 foot, all-carbon fibre and represents the ‘formula one’ of yachting. With a full rig, her sail area covers nearly five tennis courts. On a good downwind run, she easily breaks 30 knots.
