HKSF BEGINNER COURSES

The Adult Beginner Course is a 5-day practical course, sailing Wayfarer dinghies from Middle Island. These courses are open to the public and follow the HKSF Level 1 and 2 syllabus. Courses are taught in English unless specifically identified in application.

Please note that a student must complete the course in full to receive level 2 and we suggest that you carefully consult your diary before enrolling as course fees cannot be refunded. If you are unable to attend some of the practical days, make-up days may be arranged. Attendance is also most important as we have a very long waiting list for these courses and by not completing a course you will be preventing another student from taking part.

HKSF LEVEL 3

By the end of the course the successful sailor will have a competent, safe, practical approach to the sailing of small open boats and will be capable of sailing and making seamanlike decisions in moderate conditions. The HKSF Level 3 can be attempted after completing the HKSF Level 1&2 and logging one season's worth of sailing (minimum 9 months).

HKSF LEVEL 4

By the end of the course, the sailor should have a confident, safe, seamanlike approach to sailing and will be capable of handling a high-performance sailing dinghy in strong wind conditions. The HKSF Level 4 can be attempted after completing the HKSF Level 3 and logging one season's worth of sailing (minimum 9 months).

420 CLINIC

The two-day Adult 420 Clinic includes an introduction to the 420. It is suitable for those sailors who have already completed HKSF Level 3 or who have equivalent experience. For those sailors who have already sailed on 420s the Clinic will cover more advanced skills including boat setup and understanding apparent wind sailing.
